Job Description

Kentucky Cooperage seeks qualified Electrician/PLC Technician candidates to work on our night shift. The Electrician/PLC Technician is responsible for electronic control equipment and apparatus as associated with automated machine tools, servo-mechanism, etc., of complex and involved design requiring broad technical knowledge of electro-mechanical principles and equipment design plus specialized skills and techniques. This position is responsible for ensuring equipment and production lines are operating within the proper specifications so as making maintenance and technical decisions with exceptional knowledge of any potential impact on financial, quality, and safety metrics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Work closely with engineers and mechanics on the installation of new equipment or the change-over of plant layout requirement the movement of machines and control equipment
  • Wire Machinery
  • Program machinery using various software programs to automate the machines
  • Assemble enclosures and panels
  • Read electrical schematics and other documents to diagnose and repair machinery and equipment
  • Diagnose & Troubleshoot machinery and equipment make needed repairs
  • Communicate with co-workers and others to carry out job duties


  • Ability to troubleshoot 24V DC, 110V AC, 240V AC, and 480V AC circuity
  • Experience with control devices: prox switches, limit switches, buttons, photo eyes, etc.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley VFDs
  • 2+ Years of PLC and HMI programming: troubleshooting, new installations, setup network communication, etc.
  • Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • 2+ Years Field Experience or 2 Year Electrical Course

Preferred or Bonus Skills

  • Conduit installation
  • Allen Bradley Servos
  • Previous Supervisor Experience
  • SQL Query Writing
  • Python and Java Script Writing
  • PC troubleshooting experience
  • CAD experience
