The Job

We are looking for a qualified assistant transportation manager candidate to assist with the planning and coordination of our daily product shipments.

To succeed in this role, you should have a thorough knowledge of supply chain management and an understanding of warehouse procedures, including storing goods, dispatching orders, and tracking vehicles. You should also be familiar with safety processes and legal regulations.

Ultimately, you will ensure that the handling of all shipments is performed quickly, safely, and within budget.


Day to Day Operations

  • Overseeing daily planning and dispatch
  • Collaborating with transportation manager on production, staffing, and equipment issues
  • Creating and maintaining safety programs for ITD company, leased drivers and employees
  • Maintaining and coordinating ELD operations with drivers, DOT compliance, payroll and service provider 
  • Daily/weekly/monthly reporting of data beneficial to efficient transportation practices
  • Assisting in the management of accounts payable and verifying for accuracy as well as verifying driver payroll for accuracy
  • Assisting with the management of ISO practices and systems
  • Coordinating with maintenance staff on repairs and preventive maintenance of company equipment
  • Motivating employees and maintaining a healthy workplace culture ie: Performing employee reviews/evaluations, and recognition, providing daily or weekly pre-shift meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of transportation, distribution, and the movement of inventory within and outside of the organization.
  • Assist in the development of new strategies to streamline processes and reduce cost while ensuring quality, quantity, customer satisfaction, and financial commitments objectives are achieved
  • Perform metrics reporting and data analysis tasks to identify issues and opportunities for process improvements
  • Partner and communicate within the organization as well as suppliers and customers
  • Assist in the management and develop transportation staff
  • Assist in creating and managing budgets

 


Qualifications

  • While not required a college degree is preferred in the following areas of study: supply chain management, operations, logistics, business administration, transportation
  • 2+ years of experience working in logistics, transportation or warehouse operations
  • Firm grasp of the supply chain, inventory, distribution, business, and management principles
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to manage, coach, and provide training for direct reports
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of logistics and inventory software
